In 2025, the Plainsman staff voted for three winners in the campus section in the annual Plainsman's Choice awards. Categories include: Best tradition, best on-campus dining and best student event.
The Auburn University Regional Airport received a bomb threat on June 11, 2025, at 1:32 p.m. After determining the threat was not credible, the Auburn Police Department administratively closed the case, and the Auburn University Department of Campus Safety and Security chose to not issue an AU Alert.
Auburn University is facing a lawsuit filed by current employee Henry Moreman. Moreman is suing on the claim that the University has discriminated him based on his race. The suit is being filed under the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which outlawed discrimination on the basis of race, “color,” national origin and sex. Moreman’s case is set for December 2026 as a jury trial.
It's a new era on The Plains, as the brand new north endzone videoboard is set to make its debut this September inside Jordan-Hare Stadium. Breaking ground in the summer of 2024, the $25.7 million addition will replace the previous scoreboard, built in 1987, and compliment the existing south endzone videoboard, which is the largest videoboard in college football.

On Thursday, April 24, Auburn University’s Student Government Association hosted its spring Ring Night. On Wednesday, April 23, Auburn University's Generation Action hosted the city’s inaugural Take Back the Night Walk, a long-standing, national movement against sexual and domestic violence. With around 40 protestors, the march began at Toomer’s Corner and ended at the Campus Green, where participants recited poems and survivor stories and received community resources for all victims of violence.

On Tuesday, April 22, Auburn UPC hosted their Earth Day Extravaganza. Over 20 on-campus and community organizations showcased their causes through informational graphics and fun activities. The event, which ran from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., featured activities like flower bouquet making, t-shirt stamping and other crafts.

On Thursday, April 10 at 6 p.m., the Auburn University SGA Lobby Board hosted Alabama State House Representative Jeremy Gray from District 83. The discussion took place in Lowder Hall, with a focus on higher education, and specific questions related to Gray’s career in politics.
Auburn University’s campus dining options are expanding with two major projects at The Edge at Central Dining. Renovations will take place on the ground floor to create a frictionless convenience store and a three-stall food hall. In addition to the new dining options coming to The Edge, next school year the Wellness Kitchen will be open to all students.
On Thursday, April 10 at 6 p.m. in the Haley Center, student representatives from Auburn College Republicans, College Democrats at Auburn University and the Mises Society participated in the annual Great Debate. The discussion centered around current hot topics like the emergence of the Department of Government Efficiency, the United States' role in global affairs and immigration policies.
