The Auburn Tigers (8-8) beat Oral Roberts baseball today 18-11, largely in part to their 21 hits, as well as Pre-Season All-SEC Anfernee Grier’s home run and his 4 RBI performance. Grier extended his hitting streak to 17 games.
Auburn’s offense was just seeing the ball well.
After going yard in the 2nd inning, Niko Buentello finished 3-5. Josh Palacios went 3-5 and knocked in 2 runs. Blake Logan finished a career high 4-6 with 3 RBI’s.
Coach Thompson blamed the 78-degree weather, citing that ‘both teams swung it well’.
Runs were rampant in the contest in virtually every inning.
In the 2nd inning, Cody Nulph went to work with 3 RBI’s following Buentello’s solo shot into right field.
Going into the sixth inning the teams were knotted at seven, Auburn scored doubled their score, scoring an additional seven.
Auburn sent thirteen men to the plate, and Anfernee Grier smashed a home run.
Auburn shut the door in the 8th inning with a Cody Nulph double. Nulph finished 3-5.
Daniel Robert remained hot with an RBI also.
Oral Roberts used seven pitchers on the day, never really finding an answer to Auburn’s offense.
Auburn’s bright spot on the mind was Daniel Sprinkle tossing a perfect ninth, who recently started against Alabama A&M.
The Tigers will travel to GA Tech Tuesday in an attempt to get redemption after losing to the Jackets March 8th.
