AUBIE Lab maps the brain through MRI and EEG studies

​The Auburn University Brain Imaging and Ethanol (AUBIE) Lab is located a few miles from the main campus, in the research park off South Donahue Drive. The centerpiece of the lab is the MRI machine. The AUBIE lab’s machine is a powerful 7 Tesla MRI, one of a only a handful in the country. With the power to create a magnetic field more than five times stronger than a typical 3 Tesla machine, this cutting-edge technology allows the researchers to get clearer images of the brain than ever before.

Of farmers and phages: Auburn’s College of Agriculture tackles bacterial spot in peaches

For the past two years, Auburn University’s College of Agriculture has conducted research to help peach farmers combat a crop-destroying disease: bacterial spot. Led by Assistant Extension Professor Dr. Edgar Vinson at the Chilton County Research & Extension Center in Clanton, Alabama, researchers aim to utilize a type of virus called a bacteriophage to counter bacterial spot.

Auburn's 1856 receives Michelin Guide recommendation

Auburn University’s 1856 – Culinary Residence, housed in the Tony & Libba Rane Culinary Science Center, became the first restaurant in Auburn and first teaching restaurant in the United States to receive the prestigious distinction of a Michelin recommendation. The restaurant was one of 15 restaurants across Alabama to receive honors in the inaugural Michelin Guide American South selection.

SGA hosts Creed Day

On Nov. 19, onlookers walking past the Melton Student Center were greeted not just by the Aubie statue but also by a festive display of volunteer-run tables, treats and a balloon arch, all organized by Auburn’s Student Government Association (SGA) to celebrate Creed Day. Every year, Auburn University SGA hosts Creed Day, a celebration that highlights the origins of the Auburn Creed and exemplifies its representative values.

'The Rec' offers health services to students in need

The Recreation and Wellness Center, commonly known as "the Rec," provides many services for Auburn students, faculty and staff in both mental and physical health interventions. The facility holds group fitness classes, organizes intramural and club sport leagues, hosts Olympic and powerlifting competitions, arranges outdoor adventure experiences, offers one-on-one personal training and conducts other events throughout the year to get the student body involved.

Redefining American art through untold stories at the Jule

On Aug. 19, 2025, the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Arts opened its exhibit "Women Artists in Ascendance" to the public. The exhibit showcases artwork from notable women artists of the 20th century whose contributions have largely gone overlooked. The exhibit is one of four on display, exploring the idea of American art and who gets to define what that means.

Concerts coming to Neville Arena

Live music is coming to the Plains! With the new, long-term collaboration of Auburn Athletics with Peachtree Entertainment, Neville Arena and Jordan-Hare Stadium are scheduled to hold at least five concerts annually, featuring bands and singers known nationwide. The partnership is an exciting announcement for all current and future Auburn students. Notably, within the next five months, the upcoming performances will range from faith-based worship songs to soulful country music, featuring performers Josiah Queen, Hulvey, Claire Leslie, Riley Green and Parker McCollum.

War Damn Coffee Jam returns to the Loveliest Village on the Plains

On Nov. 11, the University Program Council (UPC) hosted its annual War Damn Coffee Jam. The event, held directly in front of Samford Hall, ran from 7 to 10 p.m. and offered Auburn students a fun break from studying. Attendees enjoyed the changing weather with free refreshments from local vendors, music from local bands and the company of fellow Auburn students.

'Auburn is a special place': President Trump calls into TPUSA event at Neville Arena

On Nov. 5, Auburn’s Turning Point USA (TPUSA) chapter hosted “This is the Turning Point Tour” in Neville Arena. The event lasted three hours with attendees hearing from Senator Tommy Tuberville, Benny Johnson, Lara and Eric Trump. During the event, President Trump called Eric Trump and spoke to the crowd. At the end of the event, attendees had the chance to ask the speakers questions.

Auburn University navigating SB-129 in the classroom

As of Oct. 1, 2024, classrooms across Alabama have been navigating SB-129. This bill, also referred to as the “DEI Bill,” is still having an effect on Auburn University. In avoidance of terminating faculty for discussion or teaching of these “divisive concepts,” the University has implemented a syllabus and course materials review.

Tinkering through time: 153 years of the college of engineering

Samuel Ginn College of Engineering is one of the most recognized and well known engineering schools around the nation. With over 10 majors to pick from and over 6,700 students, the College is celebrating its 153rd anniversary on Auburn University’s campus. These 153 years have seen many notable alumni, even now, current students are upholding what it means to be an Auburn engineer: working to excel in their chosen field and proving that Auburn University believes in work, hard work.

Faculty row walking tour revives forgotten Auburn history

On Nov. 2, Sam Hendrix, a local author and historian, led a walking tour around what used to be known as "Faculty Row." Beginning at Auburn Oil Co. Booksellers, Hendrix discussed his in-depth research into the notable figures of Auburn University throughout the 19th and 20th century while leading attendees to locations connected to those faculty members.

Auburn's 37th Annual Pumpkin Carve takes place at Dudley Hall

On Friday, Oct. 31, the 37th annual Pumpkin Carve, an Auburn tradition since the 80s, took place from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. outside of Dudley Hall. The Halloween event is hosted by Auburn’s chapter of the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS), and is open to all students, faculty and community members for a day of activities and fun, including the namesake pumpkin carving contest.

On Oct. 29, Auburn University College Republicans (AUCR) hosted its “Challenge the Chairman" event with Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party (ALGOP) John Wahl. The event, held on Cater Lawn in somewhat rainy and cold conditions, began at 10:00 AM and concluded at 1:00 PM. AURC invited all students to set up their tent along the Haley Concourse so that they could ask questions of the Alabama Republican leader.
