Chicken Salad Chick co-founder dies

Kevin Brown, co-founder of Chicken Salad Chick, passed away Saturday, Nov. 21, after an approximately two-year battle with cancer, according to a post on the company's Facebook page.

Meet the Student Design League's fan apparel contest winner

Alaundra Shealey, winner of the Student Design League's #AUshirt competition and senior in apparel design, is from the Auburn and area and said she wanted to incorporate the Toomer's Oaks in her design.  Shealey's design received 3,500 votes.  She received a summer internship with Robin Ruth in New York and is now a finalist for a $10,000 prize, which is based on who gets the most shirt sales, said Shealey. When Shealey was announced as the winner, she said she felt more than her facial expression showed.

Auburn beat Bama in Food Drive

Auburn University has [won/lost] the 2015 Beat Bama Food Drive. With [number] pounds of food collected this year for the Food Bank of East Alabama, Auburn has [beaten/has been beaten] the University of Alabama, who raised [number] pounds for the West Alabama Food Bank.

New version of AU Access to launch Nov. 23

AU Access will be taken offline today at 5 p.m. to prepare for the launch of the new version on Monday, Nov. 23. With this upgrade, the site will be more accessible on mobile devices, have personalized content for each user and the overall layout will have a new look.

Pieology brings new business to Auburn

Pieology Pizzeria recently opened its doors on Toomer's Corner. Located in the building formerly occupied by The Bank Vault, the new restaurant is predicted to bring in plenty of business to downtown Auburn. Shift leader Jordan Stephney said the chain chose Auburn because of the growing population. "We want to put Pieology where people will definitely eat it," said Stephney. "And we know they're going to eat it here." Stephney said the chain chose Toomer's Corner specifically because of the history.

Young Farmers to host catfish fry

"In the past the Agriculture department has always had a spring catfish fry," said Auburn University Young Farmers chairman Drew Wendland. "AUYF normally teams up with them for that but this year we thought why not try and host one in the fall too?"
