The Tennessee Volunteers women's volleyball team defeated Auburn 3-0 Sunday, sweeping the Tigers 25-15, 25-16, 25-20.
The Auburn women's volleyball team had a successful start to the 2011 season.
After reaching the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history last year, new coach Rick Nold and the Auburn volleyball team have been preparing to repeat the feat in 2011.
Unlike a lot of collegiate athletes, Christina Solverson's athletic career did not consume her early life.
It took a nation-wide journey for coach Eysha Ambler to find herself back where she began.
The Auburn Volleyball team was defeated by South Carolina in a 3-0 match at the Gamecock's home court."It is a disappointing loss for us and it's hard to win when only a couple of people are playing up to par," said head coach Wade Benson. "Not having everyone in the game really hurt us and this loss is going to hurt for a while."
Wade Benson has been coaching volleyball for more than 20 years. As head coach of the women's volleyball team at Auburn, he and his staff bring a lot of experience and passion to the game."Speaking for everybody, I can tell you that we really enjoy Auburn as a school and as an area to live and raise a family," Benson said.
Auburn volleyball anticipates a successful 2009 season with the talent of new recruits, returning players and coaching staff.The 2009 recruiting class ranks third in the Southeastern Conference and 26th in the nation on PrepVolleyball.com, according to the Auburn athletics Web site."With ten incoming players and no returning seniors, this season is going to be more about increasing SEC wins for 2009," said Wade Benson, head coach of two years.
