Medical Resignation Offers New Chances

When someone is injured in a car crash, their grades are typically the last thing on their minds.Fortunately for these students, Auburn University offers a solution.The Program for Students with Disabilities gives a second chance to those facing serious mental and health conditions."It's really a medical resignation program," said Dr. Fred Kam, executive and medical director at the AU Medical Clinic.

In 1919 woman struggled and suffered to earn their right to vote, and for centuries many woman have fought for equality in this country. Thursday, Toril Moi spoke to an audience of mostly young female students about "The Body in Feminist Theory."Moi is a professor of literature and romance studies at Duke University. She has also written several novels and essays on feminism.

New Library Space Adopts Gamers

It's not always quiet at the library.Friday night, students and staff put the books down for a while to have some fun at the Ralph Brown Draughon Library.The AU Gamers club brought over various video games such as Wii sports and Rockband.

Tigers off to powerful start in double header

The Auburn Tigers Baseball team (5-2) defeated Davidson (63) 7-6 Wednesday as part of a doubleheader after a rainout Tuesday.Auburn sophomore Dexter Price picked up his first win of the season, pitching 5 and two-thirds innings, giving up four earned runs, walking one and striking out three.Davidson's scoring started in the top of the second when Andre Barna led off the inning with a single to left.

Formation of Public School Budgets May Change

The Rolling Reserve Budget Act, developed by Rep. Greg Canfield, may change the way budgets are planned for public schools in Alabama.Canfield's bill will look at the next 15 years and average those budgets together to figure out a reasonable cap for the budget.The hope is that this bill will avoid proration and will help schools regain funds lost during this slow economic period.Proration occurs when projected budgets are reduced so the amount of funds requested changes to match the amount of funds available."There is too much uncertainty that comes along with proration," Canfield said.
