On Oct. 3, Ashlyn Powers won the title of Miss Auburn University 2026 after competing against 11 other contestants. Held in the Student Activities Center, the Miss Auburn University Scholarship Competition consisted of several categories for judging, such as talent, evening gown and on-stage conversation, with many participants winning various awards.

Dr. Troy L. Best, an emeritus professor for Auburn University’s Department of Biological Sciences, passed away at his home in Fort Sumner, N.M. on Sept. 9, 2025. Best, 80, was a beloved father, grandfather, uncle, educator and friend.

Auburn was dominated by the Aggiese defense on the road, dropping their second conference game by a score of 16-10. The Tigers offense looked paralyzed, especially early in the first half finding only one first down through the entire first quarter and only 10 total through entire game. Auburn continued their trend of struggles from last week going 0-for-13 on third downs while getting sacked in several key situations.

After an impressive three-game slate in the Alabama Showdown last week, Auburn Volleyball started off SEC play with a bang, beating rival Alabama handily in three straight sets. The Tigers continued their recent dominant streak against the Crimson Tide, having won eight of their last ten matchups entering Friday night. On a night when Neville Arena was packed with over 3,000 fans, the Tigers put on a show for their largest crowd of the season. The rivalry matchup was Auburn Volleyball’s second-highest attended game ever, only eclipsed by the Tigers’ matchup versus Texas last season.

Many customs, especially culinary ones, are valued within cultures because food often unites people together. Most people don’t think about the history behind their food, but the History Club at Auburn University, along with the Lee County Historical Society, is working to change that. The organizations are creating a cookbook with southern recipes, with information about their true origins, to bring awareness to the underrepresented groups that formed southern culinary culture.

The seventh edition of AubFest will return from Oct. 3 to 5 at Boggin’ On The Plains, a local ATV recreation park. Hosted twice a year, the local DIY, music festival highlights regional bands and performers of all backgrounds and genres, while offering a place where the community can come together.
