The Auburn men’s basketball team lost its fourth consecutive game Saturday in College Station Texas, where the Tigers fell 80-55 against Texas A&M. With Antoine Mason missing the game after his father’s passing, leading scorer KT Harrell scored 18 points but was the only Tiger in double digits.
Things have not gone as planned for Antoine Mason in his first season on the Plains. The nation’s leading returning scorer after averaging 25.6 points per game at Niagara last season, Mason sprained an ankle in his first game as a Tiger, forcing him to miss the next six games. Once he was able to play, Mason wasn’t at full speed.
The number four Tigers fell to South Carolina 11-7 Saturday afternoon, Feb. 28 at One Wood Farm in Blythewood. Although the Tigers left defeated, a number of records were made in the competition.
No. 7 Auburn gymnastics defeated No. 9 Georgia 197.750-196.775, on Friday night, Feb. 27, in front of Auburn Arena’s first ever gymnastics sellout. Auburn’s total score was an all-time high for the program. Senior Megan Walker appreciated the fans making such a difference in the last home SEC meet for herself and fellow seniors. “The fans really did a good job of making sure my last (meet) was a great one, and I say that for all of the seniors,” Walker said. Caitlin Atkinson also set the program all-around record with a 39.675, winning the all-around title. Atkinson felt the rest she got the last couple weeks helped her get back to performing to the best of her ability. “After taking a few weeks off, I think it really helped me a lot,” Atkinson said.
It was a slow start for the 16th ranked Tigers at home with no runs off of three hits in the first inning against Ohio State on Friday, Feb 27. It wasn’t until the bottom of the second with Jade Rhodes’s sixth home run that the Tigers put points on the board, bringing in three.

The Auburn softball team continued its winning ways Thursday, February 26, picking up its 18th win of the season over visiting Texas State. The Tigers (18-1) got off to bit of slower start than normal, not plating their first runs till the third inning, when they put up two, one by way of a wild pitch and one off a sacrifice fly from shortstop Haley Fagan. Texas state answered back in the fifth, tying things up with a 2-run homer.
The Auburn men’s tennis team faced South Carolina on Thursday, Feb. 26 in Auburn, AL. The Tigers beat the 34th ranked Gamecocks 4-2.
The Auburn Athletics has released this year’s scrimmage will start at 1 p.m. April 18. The department has not yet released which TV station will air the game, but reports indicate it will most likely be broadcasted on ESPN, SEC Network or CSS. Spring practices will begin March 10 and will be preparing incoming junior quarterback Jeremy Johnson to replace Nick Marshall, as well as top recruits Byron Cowart and Jovon Robinson.
