SGA, ISO & BSU hold open student forum regarding SB-129

A day before the Alabama bill, SB-129, went into effect, Auburn University's Student Government Association, Black Student Union and International Student Organization held a student roundtable to answer questions about Auburn University's compliance with SB-129. The roundtable discussion focused solely on student organizations, clubs and spaces, with further insight on how professors are complying with the law in the classroom missing. 



Inked Tacos

Inked Tacos to open Sept. 26 in Melton Student Center

The newest addition to dining options, Inked Tacos, is opening sooner than expected on Sept. 26 at 10 a.m. Opening in the space previously housing SaladWorks, Inked Tacos is located in the Melton Student Center, next to the entrance across from the Tiger Transits and near the War Eagle Supply Co. convenience store. Inked Tacos, is a Georgia-based birria taqueria franchise. The restaurant serves a variety of tacos, quesadillas, nachos and sliders.  

Auburn University

Student Government Association approves 2024–2025 student budget

On Sept. 23, the Auburn University SGA met and approved a new student activity budget for fiscal year 2024–2025. The budget is approximately $2.5 million and will be distributed among student organizations and programs. Members of the student senate presented and approved the new allocations, which were all accepted without debate. The beginning of the 2024–2025 fiscal year is Oct. 1, 2024.

DEI office to close by mid-August

On the morning of July 29, Auburn University sent a schoolwide email updating students, faculty and staff about what the university is doing to comply with law SB 129. Coined the “anti-DEI bill,” SB 129 prevents state-funded universities from having an office or programs for diversity and inclusion; compelling students, employees or staff to adhere, adopt or affirm "divisive concepts"; spend federal or private funding on programs or events that uplift divisive concepts; and requires universities to enforce gendered bathrooms.

In the heart of Birmingham: Auburn's new building enhances opportunities

Formerly a vacant reminder of what once was, a Downtown Birmingham building has a new look and purpose. Auburn University President Chris Roberts and faculty members unveiled one of Auburn’s newest off-campus buildings on May 23. The building’s purpose is to provide a permanent home for the School of Architecture, Design and Construction’s program Urban Studio and a base for Harbert College of Business.
