Auburn kept rolling through its fall ball schedule on Sunday, defeating Auburn University Montgomery in a 10-inning matchup at Jane B. Moore Field in Auburn, Alabama, with a final score of 8-1.

Auburn's Shelby Lowe was named a finalist for Freshman of the Year by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Thursday.
"I didn't even know what was happening," Dean said. "I didn't know what the team was doing postgame with the silly string. I was thinking it was alright to celebrate, but we have won before. Then they informed me. It was a pretty cool moment."
“We made some mistakes early on,” said head coach Mickey Dean. “Tonight, we didn’t play good defense to give us an opportunity to stay in the game or even win the game. We had bad pitches in 0-2 and 1-2 counts. We just didn’t play well enough.”
“They had opportunities, we had opportunities,” said Auburn head coach Mickey Dean. “In eight innings, they had one hit with a runner in scoring position. That’s the difference in the ballgame.”
Following their performances in a pair of non-conference games and in the series win over No. 12 Kentucky, Maddie Penta was named SEC Freshman of the Week, while Maddison Koepke was named SEC Newcomer of the Week.
