Keep Auburn Lovely advocates for 'smart development'

As Auburn grows, new student housing pops up all over town, including in downtown Auburn. Some people are worried this new growth will change the small town feel of Auburn and transform it into something unrecognizable.  Keep Auburn Lovely  is a grassroots group of concerned citizens who are worried about the type of development in Auburn, especially downtown.

SCAVMA hosts Tails and Trails 5K

Many tails were wagging for a cause on the morning on August 22 as the Student Chapter of American Veterinarian Medical Association (SCAVMA) hosted its first Tails and Trails 5K and fun run at Town Creek Park. Proceeds from the walk will be donated to the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, which will take place in Auburn in October.

Let's Jog Their Memory

In December of 2014, 14 year old Laurel Ramey and her family were told that her grandmother, Sherry Ramos, had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s seven months earlier. Laurel said she discovered Alzheimer’s was the sixth leading cause of death in the United States.

Merchants reflect on corner construction

The Toomer’s Corner intersection has opened, ending the summer of construction. The construction blocked parking in front of the stores and while there was free parking in the Gay Street parking deck, the construction made it more difficult for people to visit downtown Auburn.

Back to school, back to traffic

As students begin to arrive back to campus and school starts back, so does the traffic they bring with them. Each year residents of Auburn are forced to get back into the swing of bumper-to-bumper traffic after a summer of being able to go wherever, whenever.
