Greek life networking app strives to connect greeks nationally

GoGreekNow, an app founded by Sigma Chi fraternity brothers from Iowa State University, strives to be an “all-encompassing, one-stop shop” for Greek life across the country, according to co-founder Mark Hagen. Hagen and Nick Scott, who were roommates and good friends in college, began developing GoGreekNow in fall 2014 and officially launched the app in April 2015. Living in different cities after college, Scott said he and Hagen kept in touch.

A Day in the Life at The Bean

Behind the sugary glazes, fresh baked treats and soul-warming cups of coffee that take up residence at the local coffee shop, The Bean, is a lot of hard work. It is 4:35 in the morning and while most people are still asleep, waiting for the sun to peek it’s face up from below the horizon, Sydney and Ben Nichols, owner’s of The Bean, are awake and prepping for the day ahead of them.

Professor emeritus releases first fiction novel, 'The Black Angels'

On a dark, rainy night psychiatric ward nurses dressed in black raincoats and boots arrive at a murder scene where the daughter of a judge is suspected for her father’s murder. This scene sets the tone for Cal Clark, professor emeritus in political science and former Master’s of Public Administration director, who recently authored his first fiction novel, “The Black Angels.”

Farmer's Market ends on a high note

The Market at Ag Heritage Park had its final farmer's market for the season on August 27. From peaches to poundcake, vendors sold their products to local residents. Taylor Hatchett of A New Leaf Farm Stand said it's been a wonderful market this year. "It's a huge health and wellness benefit," said Hatchett.

Jiu jitsu brings grappling to Glenn

To the average person, jiu jitsu might not ring any bells, but for Auburn Mixed Martial Arts and Auburn Jiu Jitsu owners, jiu jitsu is more than a martial art.  Randall Phillips said he has been practicing jiu jitsu for 31 years starting in Brazil when he was 14.  Phillips said he studied for three years at the Gracie Jiu Jitsu Academy in Brazil, which is based on teachings of Reylson Gracie, father of Helio Gracie.
