After what looked like another easy weekend sweep for Auburn, the LSU Tigers snatched the win, 7-1 to end the last game of the regular season. But this win wouldn’t be just a normal win for the Tigers.

​Sammie Coates goes to the Steelers

The second day of the 2015 NFL Draft is over, and Auburn’s Sammie Coates leads the former Tiger hopefuls off getting selected by the Pittsburg Steelers in the third round (pick 23, 87th overall). Coates, who led the Tigers in receiving with 741 yards in 2014, and averaged 21.8 yards per reception, ran a 4.43 40-yd dash at the NFL combine.

Four Tigers taken on day three of NFL Draft

Auburn’s NFL hopefuls watched Friday as wide receiver Sammie Coates was taken 87th overall by the Pittsburgh Steelers. On Saturday, four Tigers would also hear their names called as day three of the 2015 NFL Draft came to a close in Chicago. The Tennessee Titans selected defensive end Angelo Blackson with the first pick of the 4th round (100th overall) to address the defensive side of the ball after taking quarterback Marcus Mariota with the 2nd overall pick, and wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham with the 40th overall pick. Detroit beefed up their defensive line by trading up to get defensive tackle Gabe Wright with the 14th pick of the 4th round (113th overall) after former Auburn defensive tackle Nick Fairley opted to sign with the St.

​Offense comes alive late, evens series vs. South Carolina

Despite falling behind early, Auburn’s bats woke up in the later innings, scoring two each in the seventh, eighth, and ninth innings to win 6-2, and to tie the series against South Carolina in Columbia, where the Tigers have now won for the first time since 2009. Starter Rocky McCord had yet another solid start, holding the Gamecocks to only one earned run on four hits in seven innings. The Tigers couldn’t get anything going early, as South Carolina elected to use their closer, Taylor Widener, to start the game, and he pitched five shutout innings.
