In its final conference game before the SEC Championship, Auburn gymnastics fell to Alabama 197.200-197.025 in Birmingham Sunday afternoon, March 8. Auburn’s 197.025 is the program’s highest away total of all-time and the highest score against Alabama of all-time. The Tigers’ Caitlin Atkinson won the all-around title with a 39.750, the highest score in program history and her seventh-straight title. In 34 career meets, Atkinson has 15 all-around titles. She led the Tigers on bars, vault and floor, and her scores on bars and vault were career-highs. Auburn began on bars with a 49.325, and Atkinson’s score of 9.975 led the Tigers. The Tigers then moved to vault, scoring a 49.300.
The Tigers got down 4-0 early, but rallied back in the third to make it 4-3. In the next inning, Emily Carosone deposited a grand slam over the left field wall, to give Auburn the 7-4 lead that would end up being the final score. Strong pitching from Lexi Davis, and solid defense from the Tigers infield, secured things the rest of the way. The win moves the Tigers to 24-2 as they head home for a matchup with Troy on Wednesday.

KT Harrell, Malcolm Canada, KC Ross-Miller and Antoine Mason, who all started their college careers at other schools, were honored at half-court, receiving framed jerseys and standing ovations from the crowd.
The seventh-ranked Auburn Tigers faced the third-ranked Baylor Bears Saturday in the last home match up of the season. The Tigers beat the Bears 13-7 and won all four events. The Tigers won the Equitation over Fences event 4-1, in spite of MOP honors going to Baylor.
"I thought I got a little too reliant on getting KT open," coach Bruce Pearl said. "We didn't penetrate or have enough two-point baskets."
With the team’s recent advancement to No. 14 in the rankings, their game against Arizona proved easy for the Tigers, dominating the Wildcats 20-2, allowing the run-rule to call the game in the top of the fifth. This win also constitutes the largest lead against a ranked team in the program’s history.
Auburn (11-3) picked up its ninth win in its last ten games with a 7-2 win over Xavier (4-7) Friday at Plainsman Park. Auburn catcher Blake Logan’s triple off Xavier’s Brad Kirschner, who has allowed only one run all season, sealed the victory in the first ever meeting between the two teams. The Tigers already had a 3-0 lead when Auburn’s Jackson Burgreen singled on a bunt to load the bases in the bottom of the fifth for Logan to clear the bases with a shot to left-center and make it 6-1. Junior Cody Nulph, who had three hits on the day, hit a two-run single in the bottom of the first inning to put the Tigers on the board and junior Alex Polston scored on a sac fly from sophomore Damon Haecker in the second inning. Ninth-ranked Auburn fell 196.575-196.325 to the Kentucky Wildcats Friday, March 6 at Memorial Coliseum in Lexington, Kentucky. Caitlin Atkinson led the way for the Tigers as she claimed the event titles on vault, bars and floor.
Auburn’s women’s tennis team defeated Tennessee Friday, March 6, in the Tigers’ first home SEC match of the season. The team defeated the Lady Volunteers 4-0 en route to their first SEC victory. Second courts doubles team, sophomore Reka Muller and senior Jen Pfeifler finished first with an 8-5 win. Juniors Paula De Man and Michala Kucharova won their doubles match despite trailing 7-2.
Tra'Cee Tanner led the Tigers with 14 points and nine rebounds in the loss. Katie Frerking posted a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds.
The winning continued for Auburn softball Thursday, March 5, this time on the west coast. Auburn won both of their first two games in the Judi Garman classic in Fullerton, California, by scores of 8-7 and 4-1.
