Auburn football beat the Furman University Paladins 63-31 for Homecoming Saturday."It was great to go out there and get a win," said Auburn head coach Gene Chizik.Auburn began the game with a 35-yard return to the Auburn 49-yard line by junior running back Mario Fannin.

"Ole Miss is a great team and they played a great game, our girls just did a fantastic job of getting better from last weekend. We scored goals when we needed to and we did a great job of ending the game; the last 10 to 15 minutes, not giving them a good look and getting out of here with a 2-1 win."
Etheridge was injured during Saturday's win over Ole Miss during the first quarter. He was attempting to hit Ole Miss' Rodney Scott and went head first into Auburn's Antonio Coleman's right shoulder.Etheridge laid face-down, motionless on the field on top of Scott.
Auburn University Men's Tennis team swept away its competition and returned to The Plains with numerous victories after playing in the South Carolina Invitational last weekend.The tournament was a three-day event with eight singles flights, a tournament where players play against each other in a range of matches and four doubles flights."Overall, I thought we played well in certain spots, I'm not disappointed," said Eric Shore, head coach of the men's tennis team.

Auburn Women's Soccer team bowled over Alabama Friday night for its fourth consecutive victory in the Iron Bowl of Soccer.The 2-0 victory improved Auburn's record to 9-7-3 and 6-5 in the SEC.

Auburn Cross Country team traveled to Oxford, Miss., for the SEC Championships Saturday.The men's team earned third place and the women's team placed seventh.The championships involved familiar competition, including Alabama, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky and Mississippi State.On the men's side, seniors Felix Kiboiywo and Jean-Pierre Weerts placed third and fourth, respectively, while junior Ben Cheruiyot came in fifth.Head coach Mark Carroll praised his team's performance."Overall, it went very well," Carroll said.

Head softball coach Tina Deese is entering her 13th year of coaching at Auburn University where she has broken many program records and seen many new developments during her coaching career.Deese was named 2002 SEC Head Coach of the Year, leading the Tigers to second in the Southeastern Conference Western Division in 2005 and most recently brought Auburn its 400th win in February 2009.Originally from Huntington Beach, Calif., Deese began her softball career following in the footsteps of her athletic family of four brothers and sisters."Basically we were very involved with baseball and softball as a family," Deese said.

A sport once known to be played by mostly men is now open to women and is making its way to women in Auburn.Auburn Women's Rugby Club opened its recruitment to find those interested in learning the game of rugby and most of all those who just want to have a good time.The club was granted provisional status by the Auburn Student Government Association and will seek an official vote to receive full club status Nov.
