Public Safety Advisory sent out to students following employee arrest

The University sent out the following Public Safety Advisory following the announcement of University lab technician Stephen Howard being charged with selling GHB, a date rape drug: The US Attorney’s Office today announced the arrest of an Auburn lab technician who is accused of selling large quantities of the date rape drug GHB.

Plainsman publication schedule abbreviated for summer

The Auburn Plainsman will produce a digital-only issue every Thursday this summer and will print two tabloid issues for June and July. The weekly issues can be viewed at ThePlainsman.com where "Virtual Print Edition" is displayed on the right side of the home page.  The two tabloid issues will be in the racks Thursday, June 11, and July 9.  The Camp War Eagle tabloid will be in the racks until June 11.

Detailed policy on military credit proposed

A more detailed policy concerning military credit was proposed at the University senate meeting Monday, May 19.  The policy was proposed to be compliant with state laws, according to Xing Fang, chair of academic standards, who proposed the policies. The policy limits the number of hours people can receive for military service is 10 semester hours.  Up to four hours of physical education credit can be awarded, two hours for basic training and two hours for advanced individual training. Up to six hours of military science elective or general elective hours can be awarded. According to the policy changes, Auburn does not award credit the American Council of Education (ACE) classifies as low level, vocational or technical.

​Auburn Board of Trustees bill favors more diversity

The Auburn Board of Trustees, the governing body of the University, may be receiving two more minority seats. HB 551, which is currently pending its third reading in the Alabama Legislature states the new board members should be residents of the United States who enhance the diversity of the board, according to the Alabama Legislature’s website. The Auburn Board of Trustees currently consists of only one minority member out of 14 total members.
