Swimmers compete in Pan Am games in Toronto

Former Tigers swimmer earns gold at Pan Am Games

 Former Auburn swimmer Marcelo Chierighini helped Brazil to a gold medal in the 4x100m freestyle relay to begin the 2015 Pan Am Games  Tuesday, June 14,  in Toronto.  Chierighini swam as the anchor on the gold medal relay, guiding Brazil to a time of 3:13.66 to set a Pan Am Games record.  The two-time NCAA champion and 17-time All-American posted a blistering 47.76 anchor split to bring home the win.

Tigers make Rotary Lombardi watch list, Butkus watch list

The Rotary Lombardi Award Committee released the Watch List for the 2015 Rotary Lombardi Award on Tuesday morning, July 14, including Auburn's Avery Young and Cassanova McKinzy. This award makes two watch list appearances for Young, who is also a contender for the Outland Trophy. McKinzy continues to stack up award nominations as he is also in the running for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and the Chuck Bednarik Award.  Eligibility for the Rotary Lombardi Award is limited to down linemen, either on offense or defense. The candidates earned a place on the preliminary Watch List by earning All-American honors, being named to their respective all-conference teams or receiving 2015 pre-season honors. While the Watch List highlights those players who have already received national recognition, any Division 1 player who meets the requirements is eligible for consideration from the Rotary Lombardi Selection Committee.  The Rotary Lombardi Watch List containing 145 delegates, intended as a reference tool for the Selection Committee, will be periodically updated and revised through the conclusion of the voting to determine the 12 semi-finalists for 2015. Coach Malzahn: "It's all about surviving the grind"

The Auburn Tigers arrived at the 2015 SEC Media Days in unrivaled style. Coach Gus Malzahn was accompanied in Hoover by senior cornerback Jonathon Jones, senior linebacker Kris Frost and junior quarterback Jeremy Johnson. Coach Malzahn expressed his excitement about the 2015 Tigers and the team's theme this year being "count on me." "What that is is just our players to be able to count on each other on and off the field," Malzahn explained.

One of the largest question marks for Auburn’s 2015 season is still stamped on the Tigers’ offense. Key players Sammie Coates, Cameron Artis-Payne and, of course, play-maker Nick Marshall have left the scene, so the pressure is high to fill their shoes. According to Gus Malzahn, Jeremy Johnson’s got the quarterback position in the bag. “I’m very excited about Jeremy,” Malzahn said.

Tigers populate preseason watch lists

After the Maxwell Football Club released its candidates on the Maxwell Award Watch List, including Jeremy Johnson and Duke Williams, and Cassanova McKinzy was placed on the Bednarik Award list earlier this week, the Football Writers Association of America added more Tigers to the preseason award lists. Avery Young and Alex Kozan made the cut for the 2015 Outland Trophy, while Jonathan Jones and Carl Lawson are contenders for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List.
