​Former Auburn running back coach Bud Casey dies

The Dothan Eagle reported Thursday night, May 28, former Auburn assistant coach under Pat Dye, Bud Casey, died in long-term care after suffering a stroke on April 4. The Dothan native graduated from Dothan High School in 1958 and joined the Crimson Tide under Bear Bryant’s first recruiting class as an All-American.

Elijah Daniel dismissed from football team

Daniel was arrested on Wednesday, April 29 in connection with robberies and thefts that occurred in the South Donahue Residence Halls over Auburn University's spring break.

After two seasons of sitting behind Nick Marshall, Jeremy Johnson has had plenty of time to hone his skills behind closed doors. Fans got a chance to see how capable Johnson is of leading the offense in the first half against Arkansas in 2014, when Marshall was suspended, but Johnson was still always going to be the backup. Now as the presumed starter, Johnson will have no trouble at all leading the team if his play during A-Day is any indication. Johnson attempted 22 passes—all in the first half—and connected on 14, for 252 yards and a pair of scores, leading Team Auburn to a 24-14 win.

In the race for running back, Saturday’s A Day scrimmage highlighted the likes of Roc Thomas, who carried for 62 yards and made the game’s first touchdown run under quarterback Jeremy Johnson. “I think I did pretty well,” Thomas said.
