Softball grinds out win over Texas State

The Auburn softball team continued its winning ways Thursday, February 26, picking up its 18th win of the season over visiting Texas State. The Tigers (18-1) got off to bit of slower start than normal, not plating their first runs till the third inning, when they put up two, one by way of a wild pitch and one off a sacrifice fly from shortstop Haley Fagan. Texas state answered back in the fifth, tying things up with a 2-run homer.

Auburn beats USC in SEC opener

The Auburn men’s tennis team faced South Carolina on Thursday, Feb. 26 in Auburn, AL. The Tigers beat the 34th ranked Gamecocks 4-2.

The Auburn Athletics has released this year’s scrimmage will start at 1 p.m. April 18. The department has not yet released which TV station will air the game, but reports indicate it will most likely be broadcasted on ESPN, SEC Network or CSS. Spring practices will begin March 10 and will be preparing incoming junior quarterback Jeremy Johnson to replace Nick Marshall, as well as top recruits Byron Cowart and Jovon Robinson.

Student section transforms in first season under Bruce Pearl

Excited was not a word commonly used to describe the crowd inside Auburn Arena when Tony Barbee was at the helm of Auburn’s basketball program. Save for games featuring highly-ranked opponents, lines to enter the student section never saw the length they do now, and the parking lots surrounding the arena certainly never met capacity with two and a half hours till tipoff. That changed when a new head coach entered. Since coach Bruce Pearl’s arrival, excitement surrounding the basketball program has reached heights fans on the Plains haven’t seen in years. “It’s just night and day differences,” said Clint Richardson, a member of the leadership team for the Auburn student section and junior in marketing.
