On a night of debuts in the Auburn Arena, the Auburn basketball team kicked off the Bruce Pearl era with an 83-73 come-from-behind victory over the Milwaukee Panthers.
"It's a struggle," Pearl said. "But we all struggled together. The crowd was a huge factor in us being able to hang in there tonight."
It was a tough day for the 4th ranked Auburn equestrian team, as they lost 13-6 to the 6th ranked Georgia Bulldogs on Friday at the UGA Equestrian Complex.
The Auburn swimming and diving team faced Tennessee and Louisville at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center in Knoxville, Tennessee Friday. The women's team (6-0-1, 3-0-1 SEC) kept its winning streak alive as they opened the meet with a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:40.35).
"I feel like we definitely followed our game plan tonight," Tra'Cee Tanner said. "Us limiting them getting free layups and keeping them off the boards really helped us a lot."
The Auburn Tigers competed in the NCAA Cross Country South Regional on Friday at the Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Fla., and strong performances by seniors Ty McCormack and Kane Grimster earned the duo a spot in the upcoming NCAA Cross Country Championships.
Friday, Nov. 7 marked the beginning of the Bruce Pearl era of Auburn basketball as the team took on West Alabama. The team, despite lacking depth in some areas, is looking to improve on last year's 14-16 record.
Racial barriers were everywhere in James Owens' life growing up, but instead of accepting them, he decided to break them down. Owens broke the college football color barrier in the state of Alabama when he enrolled at Auburn University in 1969, becoming Auburn's first African-American scholarship player.
"I know people think that since Ty's gone this is going to be a down year, but I think people are underestimating our team," Tra'Cee Tanner said. "We can come in to the season as the underdogs because the underdogs usually come out on top."
For the second consecutive year, the No.1 junior college prospect has signed on to play basketball at Auburn. This year, it's guard T.J. Dunans of Columbia State Community College.

From the moment Bruce Pearl was hired last spring, speculation surrounding Auburn basketball has been at an all-time high. On Friday, Nov. 14, that speculation will finally come to a tipping point, as Auburn will begin regular season play against Milwaukee.
"We were already undersized going into the year and with losing Matt, it puts us down to nine scholarship players," head coach Bruce Pearl said.

Upcoming opponents for the Tigers include No. 15 Georgia in Athens this Saturday and No. 5 Alabama in Tuscaloosa on Nov. 29.
The Auburn Tigers have done everything they can to put last week's loss behind them and prepare for a tough matchup against Georgia, head coach Gus Malzahn said in Tuesday's press conference. The Tigers aren't concerned with last year's miraculous win over the Bulldogs, but focused on getting off to a better start defensively in Sanford Stadium than they did last week against Texas A&M.
The senior has been outstanding this season. He has won the South Alabama Opener, Panorama Farms Invite and the Crimson Classic, and he was the runner-up at the SEC Cross Country Championships.
"The offseason has been pretty good," Dieng said. "I was a freshman last year, and now, as a sophomore, I'm more excited about coming in and playing. I know what to expect, I'm not a freshman anymore."
