Toys for Tots runs for another year

Between Thanksgiving and Christmas meals, there is a chance to take a break from the festivities to get exercise. The Auburn-Opelika Running and Track Association is hosting their annual Toys For Tots run Saturday. The race will take place at Auburn High School with the help of the AHS Junior ROTC. This will be JROTC's second year helping with the race.

Former Councilman Arthur Dowdell addressed the Auburn City Council claiming Councilman Clemon Byrd is not a legal resident of Ward 1 at the City Council meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 2. Byrd defeated Dowdell for the Ward 1 seat in the Aug. 26 city elections.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Miscommunication in Iron Bowl chanting

I am a student at the University of Alabama and was in attendance at the Iron Bowl game this weekend. After leaving the game I saw on social media, particularly Auburn fanpages, that many people were posting that Alabama's student section were chanting "Lutzie's dead." I was appalled upon reading this.

Moore's Mill Club has Sixth Annual Turkey Trot

The Auburn community is coming together to burn some calories and help others in the community before feasting on their Thanksgiving meals this year. The 6th annual Turkey Trot is coming up Nov. 27 at the Moore's Mill Club in Auburn. Sydnee Cleveland, founder and director of the Turkey Trot, started the event five years ago.

Women return to City Council

Through the changes of city government, from an alderman system to the current Council and City Manager system, women have been involved in Auburn politics. Except for a nine-year gap from 1963-72, at least one woman served on the Council from 1955-2013, according to David Dorton, director of public affairs for Auburn.

Students regularly volunteer at local church's food pantry

Friday mornings at 8:30, a group of students from IMPACT, a group that provides volunteer opportunities, meets at the intermural fields on campus to make the trip to the Auburn United Methodist Church to work at the church's food pantry. The AUMC Food Pantry is the product of two women, Shirley Rose Glisson and Reeder Dulaney. Fourteen years ago, the duo banded together to start the charity.

It was almost midnight as fans began to exit Jordan-Hare Stadium after Auburn's win against LSU. After rolling Toomer's Corner, traffic began to circulate as police officers stationed themselves at intersections and barricades to direct thousands of cars safely out of Auburn.
