LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Response to 'War Equal'

I was disappointed, yet not surprised, that the opinions board of The Plainsman voiced their support of Judge Granade's recent attempt to redefine marriage. The view of the staff reflected the popular sentiment that the movement to legalize gay marriage is grounded in equality, but, after just a bit of thought, one can clearly see that same-sex "marriages" and marriages between one man and one woman are intrinsically, by the very essence of what they are, unequal.

Downtown living raises the bar

With plenty of options for off-campus student housing in Auburn, it can be tough to decide on a place to live, especially since the number of choices can sometimes be overwhelming. Since Auburn is a college town, a few housing options feature one aspect some college students are receptive to: being situated closer to downtown.

Students respond to stay on same-sex marriage ban

On Sunday, Jan. 25 U.S. District Judge Callie V.S. Granade, who struck down the same-sex marriage ban, put the ruling on a 14-day hold for Alabama's attorney general to make their case to an appeals court. According to NBC News, if the appeals court doesn't extend or lift the stay by the end of the 14 days, the ruling will take effect Feb. 9.
