The Glomerata and The Circle are available

The Glomerata yearbook and The Circle literary magazine are now available with a Tiger Card or 902, 903 number across campus. Both publications will be handed out at the same locations across campus. The locations include the Haley Center Concourse, Lowder Starbucks, Mell Street transit stop and Student Center transit stop.  The publications will be available this week from 9 a.m.

“The Bottle” to receive historic marker dedication

The site of an iconic Auburn structure, The Bottle, will receive a historic marker dedication from the Auburn Heritage Association to celebrate its status as a piece of Auburn history. The event will take place at The Bottle’s original location at the corner of North College Street and US Highway 280 on Saturday, April 25, at 2:30 p.m. The Bottle was originally built in 1924 by John Williams of the Nehi Bottling Company in Opelika, according to AHA’s spring 2015 newsletter.

SGA approves resolution in support of sexual assault prevention

SGA’s Monday, April 20, meeting saw the unanimous passing of a resolution introduced during last week’s senate meeting, as well as a change in the Code of Laws and a recognition of a faculty member. Trey Fields, senator for the College of Liberal Arts, discussed a resolution that will bring a campaign to Auburn’s campus which began in September of 2014 with The White House and The Center for American Progress.

Desmonte Leonard denied new trial

Desmonte Leonard's request for a new trial has been denied by Jacob Walker, Lee County circuit court judge, according to an AL.com article. Leonard was accused of fatally shooting three people, including two former Auburn University football players in 2012, and was convicted of capital murder in October 2014.

Updyke confessed his guilt at the Lee County Justice Center in 2013. 

Updyke not present at hearing about restitution

Harvey Updyke had a hearing today, April 17, to review his compliance with his restitution payment.  According to The Opelika-Auburn News, Updyke is making regular payments of $350 per quarter and performing community service.  Updyke was not at today's hearing because of medical issues, according to the O-A News.

Board of Trustees approves tuition increase

The Auburn University Board of Trustees approved a 2.5 percent tuition increase that will begin in fall 2015. Tuition for fall 2014 and spring 2015 was $5,100 for in-state students and $13,692 for out-of-state students. The increase will raise in-state tuition to $5,212 and out-of-state-tuition to $14,020. Auburn University Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Donald Large presented the proposal to the Board. “2.5 percent is the amount that we calculated that we think will produce right at $7 million,” Large said.

Mike Hubbard's attorneys seek to prove prosecutorial misconduct

Lee County Circuit Judge Jacob A. Walker told Hubbard’s attorneys to file a discovery motion for evidence from the attorney general’s office and did not immediately rule on prosecutor’s motion to squash subpoenas issued by the defense during an evidentiary hearing at the Lee County Justice Center on Wednesday, April 15.
