In his second year as assistant softball coach, Mark Ryal continues to contribute his Major League knowledge and experience to Auburn."I try to help the girls by sharing some of the knowledge that I accumulated over playing 16 years of professional baseball," Ryal said.



Auburn Wins Home Series Over LS-Who

Auburn University welcomed the defending national champion and No. 3 Louisiana State University to Plainsman Park last weekend for a successful three game baseball series."In every inning I never thought any lead was safe," said coach John Pawlowski. "We would have one and then they would have one so that was tough."After battling through the first game Friday night, Auburn fell four runs short to LSU, 14-10.Although the team suffered defeat, players had success at the plate.

Dingers Lift Tigers

It was homer after homer as the Auburn softball team shut out Mercer 4-0 Tuesday night. Junior infielder Kyndall White and sophomore catcher Elizabeth Eisterhold brought in two runs each with their hits, single-handedly bringing about the win for the Tigers."We got our job done," said coach Tina Deese.

During the week, the Billy Hitchcock Miracle Field is just another baseball complex, but Sunday afternoons, to many, it becomes much more."The Miracle League is designed to give special needs individuals the opportunity to play baseball," said chairman Rob Cox.The league meets every Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.

Tiger Heads To Championship

After two days of anticipation, junior gymnast Rachel Inniss was selected to compete at the National Championship at the University of Florida April 22.Inniss was in a seven-way tie for first in the floor exercise at regionals with a score of 9.9.Inniss said she will probably not do much differently to train for nationals."We're going to stick with the same routine, I mean, it's what got me there," Inniss said.

Men's Tennis Falls, Prepares For Bama

Last weekend was a long one for the No. 39 Auburn Men's Tennis team, as it dropped its 11th match this season 5-2 to Mississippi State in Starkville Sunday afternoon.The Tigers struggled from the beginning in doubles play as redshirt junior Nick Maurillo and junior Michel Montiero fell to Bulldogs Louis Cant and Chris Doerr 8-4.

Soccer Plays Friendlies

This past weekend, Auburn soccer continued its spring season in Orlando.The Tigers played games against the Mexican National Team and the University of Central Florida, losing the first and tying in the second.The Mexican National Team defeated Auburn 3-2 in a game that needed a stoppage time goal to determine a winner.The next day, Auburn played the UCF Golden Knights to a 0-0 draw.Freshman goalkeeper Amy Howard said the team was proud of its play, but not of the outcome of the games."We played well in both games," Howard said.

Volleyball Digs Spring

The women's volleyball team closed out its spring season at the Southeast College-Junior Invitational Saturday, beating all three opponents.Coach Wade Benson said he felt the spring season ended great and his team played solid."Winning all three matches and ending the spring season 9-2 overall was a great start to our 2010 season," Benson said.

Voss Earns SEC Service Honors

Krissy Voss, senior in chemistry, carries a heavier load than the average student.She leaps from class to lab to practice and meets, and she doesn't stop there.The senior is not just a leader to her own team, but a leader in the SEC.Voss has been on the SEC Academic Honor Roll for three consecutive years.Voss also received the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches Women's Scholastic All-American award and has also been a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.This year she managed to pick up an even more prestigious honor.Voss was named one of two 2009-10 Brad Davis Southeastern Conference Community Services Leaders of the Year.

Women's Tennis Falls to SEC Rivals

The No. 50 Auburn Women's Tennis team was defeated by two SEC West rivals this weekend.The team traveled to Fayetteville Friday to take on the No. 22 Razorbacks where the Tigers felt a painful 6-1 defeat. The loss allowed Arkansas to steal the No. 2 spot in the West.
