Baylor ends season for women’s doubles pair

Auburn doubles partners Pleun Burgmans and Emily Flickinger fell 6-1, 6-2 to Baylor in the opening round of the NCAA Championships Thursday, May 21. “Pleun and Emily both had great seasons,” Auburn head coach Lauren Longbotham Meisner said.

Ollert ends singles career in first round of NCAA Championships

Men's Tennis senior Lukas Ollert lost Wednesday in the opening round to Tulane’s Domenik Koepfer at the NCAA Championships, bringing Ollert’s outstanding singles career to a close. Ollert’s first set was a close 7-6 loss, and Koepfner, ranked among the tournament’s top 16 seeds, carried momentum into the second set, winning 6-2.

Pfeifler wins Cissie Leary Award for Sportsmanship

Auburn women's tennis player Jen Pfeifler was awarded the Internation Tennis Association Cissie Leary Award for Sportsmanship on Tuesday, May 12. The award marks the second year an Auburn player won the award after Jackie Kasler won last season. Pfeifler, a Gulf Breeze, Florida native, is one of 10 players in the country to win this award, and with it comes a nomination for the ITA Division 1 National Awards, which will be announced next Tuesday, May 19.

Auburn women’s tennis earns SEC tournament victory

Auburn’s women’s tennis team, ranked 12th for SEC tournament purposes, defeated the 13th seed Tennessee Volunteers Wednesday, April 15, in Columbia, SC. The Tigers, who beat the Vols 4-0 at home in the regular season, won 4-3 in their first match of the SEC tournament. The doubles point went to Auburn after victories on courts two and three.

Women’s tennis loses to Arkansas in a heartbreaker

Auburn’s women’s tennis team took on the Arkansas Razorbacks Sunday, April 12, in their last SEC match of the season. The Tigers lost 4-3 in a matchup that had four three setters. Auburn lost the doubles point despite a victory on court two by juniors Paula de Man and Michala Kucharova.

Women’s tennis beats Missouri 7-0

Auburn’s women’s tennis team beat the Missouri Tigers 7-0 on Friday, April 10, marking their third conference win of the season. Fifth-ranked doubles pair of junior Pleun Burgmans and senior Emily Flickinger defeated Missouri’s court one team 8-5. On court three; senior Jen Pfeifler and sophomore Reka Muller won 8-3 as the Auburn Tigers secured the doubles point. Burgmans won 6-2, 6-1 on court one while the freshman Andie Dikosavljevic won 6-4, 6-4 on the second court. Flickinger beat Missouri’s court three player in a close match that finished 6-3, 7-5. Muller, on court four, beat Missouri’s Brittany Lashway 6-4, 6-0.

​Auburn wins both matches in Tuesday’s double-header

Auburn’s 44th ranked women’s tennis team hosted Alabama A&M on Tuesday, April 7, in the middle of SEC play, and the Tigers won both matches handily. Auburn won the first match 7-0 and the second 5-0. Juniors Pleun Burgmans and Michala Kuchurova’s win 6-1 on court one was enough to earn Auburn the doubles point. In singles, Burgmans won 6-2, 6-3 on court one while Kuchurova won by default on court six. Andie Dikosavljevic, Auburn’s court two freshman, won 6-0, 6-2.

Auburn fails to beat the 8th ranked Aggies

Auburn’s men’s tennis team traveled to College Station, Texas, on Friday, April 3, to play the highly ranked Texas A&M Aggies. The Tigers played strongly, but fell 4-0 in their third top ten match-up of the season. Auburn fell in doubles despite winning on court one.

Auburn women’s tennis beats ranked SEC opponent

Auburn’s women’s tennis team took on the 18th ranked Kentucky Wildcats Sunday in the Tiger’s ninth SEC match. Auburn’s first point came by way of doubles as senior Emily Flickenger and junior Pleun Burgmans were able to win on court one 8-3. Juniors Paula de Man and Michala Kucharova won on court two in a close match that ended 8-7 (7-3). In singles, the Tigers captured three points while giving up only one. Burgmans won 6-4, 6-1 on court one while sophomore Reka Muller had a big win on court 4 over the Wildcats 121st ranked Mami Adachi.

Auburn women’s tennis falls to Texas A&M

The Auburn women’s tennis team lost to Texas A&M 4-0 on Friday in the Tigers’ sixth SEC match of the season. Due to bad weather in the College Station, the women only played singles. The 30th ranked Aggies won four out of six of the singles matches including wins on courts one, two, four and six. Auburn junior Pleun Burgmans lost 6-3 6-4 on court one while freshman Andie Dikosavljevic lost 6-2 7-5 on the second court. Seniors Emily Flickenger and Jen Pfeifler lost on courts four and six to finish the day. The Tigers have lost their last three SEC matches, and will need a win in Baton Rouge Sunday, Mar.
