Auburn volleyball fell in three straight sets to Tennessee in the final match of its shortened fall season Thursday in Auburn Arena. Auburn volleyball will return to the court in the spring. The league office will announce final details on SEC spring volleyball at a later date.
“I just think we have not figured out how to do it for long stretches," Crouch said. "There’s a period where we play well for seven or eight points, and then we’ll have seven or eight in a row that are not so good."
Auburn volleyball fell to No. 2 Kentucky in straight sets Sunday to finish up its road games for the season.
Auburn volleyball traveled to Lexington, Kentucky, Saturday to take on another top-five opponent. The Tigers found an offensive rhythm but lost in straight sets to the No. 2 ranked Kentucky Wildcats.
Auburn took on South Carolina Thursday for the second match in a two-match series. The Tigers lost the match 3-1 but set a program record for the most blocks in four-sets with 17.
Auburn volleyball had its first road match of the 2020 season and fell short in a three-set sweep to South Carolina Wednesday. The Tigers will get another opportunity against South Carolina on Thursday, Oct. 29, at 3:30 p.m. CST.
For the second-straight night, Auburn volleyball fell in a three-set sweep to Florida on Thursday. However, Brent Crouch did notice improvements from the team. "It was a really nice step forward on the defensive side,” Crouch said.
As Auburn volleyball begins a new era under its new head coach, the Tigers showed that it will be a process, losing their season opener to No. 4 Florida in a three-set sweep.
After a long-awaited debut, Auburn volleyball is set to begin its season this week after being postponed due to COVID-19. “The fact that we get to play is such a blessing, so I am glad that there are some things in place where we can do that safely,” said Crouch.
“I think it’s entirely about getting them to understand what we’re doing and why we’re doing it and what the level needs to be at which we do it,” Crouch said in an interview with The Plainsman. The faster we can get that stuff in place, the faster the wins will come.”
Even before the season starts on October 21st, Auburn volleyball will have some ground to make up as they were picked to finish last in the Preseason Coaches Poll and didn't have any representatives on the All-SEC Team.
On Monday, the SEC announced its television schedules for the 2020 soccer and volleyball seasons.
After making changes to the fall schedule, the SEC announced Auburn volleyball's eight-game slate. The Tigers will start their season on Oct. 21 at home against Florida.
The SEC announced Thursday its start dates and formats for the remaining fall sports. Auburn soccer, volleyball, cross country and fall golf and tennis now know how their seasons will be held.
The NCAA’s Division I Board of Directors voted Friday to approve an additional year of eligibility for all fall sport student-athletes. The board also met to work out a plan to move all fall championships to the spring.
On Tuesday, the SEC announced a list of fan health and safety guidelines for each of its 14 schools to follow this fall. Each school will determine attendance, and face coverings will need to be worn when entering, exiting and moving around the stadium.
NCAA President Mark Emmert announced on Thursday that NCAA Championships in all fall sports, except for football, are canceled due to numerous conference cancellations. Auburn soccer, cross country and volleyball are all affected by this decision.
On Tuesday the SEC announced that all volleyball, soccer and cross country competitions were postponed through August 31.
