"Today was about operation and execution,” Harsin said. “That is it. Simple as that. It's about who can operate and execute. We saw guys that can do that.”
Even with all of the changes made to the defense, edge rusher Derick Hall feels it's going in 'the right direction.'
"Had one or two kicks gone the other way, I think I could’ve been the top guy in the nation,” Carlson said. “For me, it’s not about focusing on last year. I’m going to carry some stuff: The positives, the confidence, into this year and really seek after that goal again.”
“With the whole staff, we are able to get a lot of ideas about what direction we want to go,” Bobo said. “It is going to be a fluid process, we are still trying to figure out the players that we have and the talent we have offensively.”
“It’s been a fast and furious last couple of months,” Mason said. “Heading into practice number four, getting ready for a fast and furious practice, as we get ready to hit a little bit, do a little red zone and goal line.”
Auburn football and head coach Bryan Harsin conducted an open practice for fans in Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday. In front of a crowd of about 3,500, the Auburn fans got to see what changes are being made to the football team under its new coaching staff.
“I feel like this is a good start for us, especially with the new coaches here," Bigsby said. "We all get to learn the plays and stuff like that, everything new. It’s a new beginning so I feel like it’s a good new start, having a spring this year.”
“Change is difficult, change is hard to go through, but sometimes if you take advantage of it, on the other side of change it can present opportunity,” Nix said. “And I think that’s what we have right now, we have a great opportunity with our new staff and we’re all excited.”
Monday marked the beginning of spring practice for Auburn and the first practices under new head coach Bryan Harsin. "We are all excited about that," Harsin said.
Bryan Harsin has signed a six-year contract with Auburn that will pay him an average of $5.25 million per year, according to documents released to ESPN on Monday.
Cam Newton will reportedly be returning to the New England Patriots with a one-year $14-million contract signed on Friday.
On Thursday, Auburn picked up a commitment from a local prospect in 3-star linebacker Powell Gordon. Gordon is a linebacker in the class of 2022 who plays at Auburn High School.
Former West Virginia cornerback Dreshun Miller committed to Auburn on Monday via a post on his Twitter.
The No. 4 ranked player in the state of Alabama is headed to the Plains as Auburn landed a commitment from 2021 4-star Dylan Brooks on Saturday.
The first look at Auburn football under Bryan Harsin will be here soon as Auburn announced on Friday that its annual A-Day game will be on April 17.
Gus Malzahn will be back on the sidelines this fall. On Monday, Malzahn was announced as the next head coach at the University of Central Florida.
Tyrone Truesdell and Grant Loy are returning to Auburn in 2021. The pair are using the extra year of eligibility that the NCAA granted to its athletes because of the pandemic affected season.
The construction of a new Football Performance Center was approved in the most recent meeting of the Auburn University Board of Trustees, as well as other projects.
Auburn added some depth to its running back room on Friday with the signing of 3-star running back Jarquez Hunter. Hunter is the 18th signee in Auburn's 2021 recruiting class.
