Report: Cam Newton named Patriots starting quarterback

After joining the New England Patriots in June, Cam Newton has been named the starting quarterback, beating out Jarrett Stidham and Brian Hoyer. Newton and the Patriots start the season on Sept. 13, against the Miami Dolphins.

Gus Malzahn named to the Dodd Trophy coach of the year watch list

Head coach Gus Malzahn was named to the Bobby Dodd Trophy preseason watch list on Thursday. Malzahn is one of 13 coaches named to the preseason watch list, which only included teams playing in the fall.

Auburn football with nine positive cases of COVID-19; 16 players unable to practice this week

After going two weeks without a positive case, Gus Malzahn announced Sunday that the team had nine positive cases, which forced them to shut down two practices this week. The Tigers will return to practice Tuesday, with 16 total players unable to practice this week because of contact tracing.

SEC releases fan health and safety guidelines in preparation for a fall sports season
